Trump says Chief of Staff “has my complete confidence” amid reports he may replace her
President Donald Trump has reportedly been asking friends and allies whether it is time to replace White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, Yahoo via The Independent reports.
Citing four sources with direct knowledge of the conversations, Politico reported that Trump has floated several possible successors. One GOP operative said Wiles has “burned a lot of people” in her time leading the administration.
A Republican elected official said Trump has mused about elevating Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller or bringing in New York Yankees executive Randy Levine. He is also considering envoy Steve Witkoff, housing boss Bill Pulte and former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, who allies say could ease tensions with a Democratic-led Congress.
Trump told Politico that Wiles “has my COMPLETE confidence” and accused the outlet of not caring about “facts, integrity, or honest journalism.”
The Independent reported that Wiles has been sidelined in recent weeks, with Trump bypassing her to appoint Katie Zacharia to replace Karoline Leavitt as press secretary. Wiles had reportedly sought to recruit CNN commentator Scott Jennings for the role.
