Court postpones El-Rufai’s ₦8.68bn CCTV fraud trial until December
The Federal High Court in Kaduna has adjourned the trial of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai and six others over alleged ₦8.68 billion CCTV contract fraud until December 8, 2026.
According to SaharaReporters, Justice Hauwa’u Buhari granted the adjournment Thursday following changes in the prosecution and defence legal teams.
New prosecution counsel Ibrahim Muktar requested additional time to study the case file and previous proceedings.
Similarly, El-Rufai’s new lawyer, Mustapha Abubakar, SAN, sought time to familiarise himself with the matter.
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) arraigned El-Rufai, his former adviser Jimi Adebisi Lawal, and five companies on June 25, 2026.
They face an amended 11-count charge involving alleged corruption, money laundering and procurement violations linked to a CCTV surveillance contract in Kaduna.
The defendants have denied the allegations.
Meanwhile, the court fixed October 16 to rule on Lawal’s pending bail application.
The ICPC alleges that the contract was awarded to an unqualified company in violation of procurement requirements.
