Man City boss Maresca previews Carabao Cup tie and squad rotation plans
Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca has confirmed he will rotate his lineup for Wednesday’s Carabao Cup fourth-round tie against Brighton & Hove Albion, according to Manchester City’s official website.
Argentine goalkeeper Gerónimo Rulli is set to make his second appearance for the club. Maresca confirmed: “Yes [Rulli will play tomorrow]. He’s good. Before I arrived here, I had a conversation with him, he knows his role and that’s important.”
Following last weekend’s 2-1 loss at Aston Villa, Maresca gave Erling Haaland, Elliot Anderson, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Rúben Dias, and Joško Gvardiol three days off.
“After Villa, we gave five players three days off. Erling, Elliot, Gigio, Ruben and Josko. Go away on holiday. Three days off, go, come back. Full energy,” Maresca stated.
Addressing the fixture, Maresca added: “In terms of how we plan, they [the games] are so close so we need to make some changes.”
