Chelsea are reportedly considering a move for Real Madrid right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, with Malo Gusto potentially leaving Stamford Bridge.

According to CaughtOffside, journalist Simon Phillips has received confirmation from a second source that Chelsea’s interest in the England international is genuine, suggesting the possibility could be more than just ‘one to watch’.

The Blues are assessing their options at right-back, with Reece James increasingly being viewed as a midfielder and Gusto reportedly available for transfer following uncertainty surrounding his future.

The France international attracted interest from Manchester City during the summer transfer window, according to the BBC. Alexander-Arnold, 28, has endured a difficult spell at Real Madrid since leaving Liverpool, struggling with injuries and inconsistent form while moving in and out of the starting line-up.

His situation could create an opportunity for Chelsea to secure an experienced player with extensive Premier League knowledge. However, a potential transfer carries risks, given his recent struggles and concerns about whether he can rediscover his best form. Chelsea’s reported interest could develop further if Real Madrid become willing to consider his departure.
