Shakhtar chief Srna launches scathing attack on FIFA president Infantino
Shakhtar Donetsk sporting director Darijo Srna has criticised FIFA president Gianni Infantino over his perceived lack of support for Ukrainian football amid the ongoing war with Russia.
Speaking exclusively to talkSPORT, Srna urged Infantino to visit Ukraine and witness the difficulties facing its clubs, following FIFA’s decision to allow a Russian team to participate in its Under-15 World Cup in Azerbaijan.
“Unfortunately, they didn’t protect one club from Ukraine during the war. What is their duty? They are there to protect football, to protect the clubs, to protect the players. But they didn’t do anything.
“So I can just invite President Infantino one more time to visit Ukraine, and maybe he will change his mind after that. Until then, I don’t have respect for him or for the whole of FIFA.” Srna also insisted Russian clubs should remain banned from UEFA competitions until the war ends.
