CD Tenerife striker Jesús de Miguel passes away following on-pitch collision

Spanish football is in deep mourning following the tragic death of CD Tenerife striker Jesús de Miguel. The forward succumbed to severe injuries after a violent collision with FC Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono during a league match.​

The fatal incident occurred in stoppage time with the score tied at 2–2. As De Miguel chased an aerial ball, Owono lunged for it as the last line of defense, resulting in a heavy impact.

De Miguel lay unconscious on the pitch, prompting immediate medical assistance before being rushed by ambulance to the Nuestra Señora de Candelaria University Hospital.​

The match was suspended in the 108th minute. Although treated in intensive care, his neurological condition worsened.​
