Nigerian national Michael Agah charged with election-related crimes in US
A Nigerian national, Michael Agah, 74, has been charged in the United States with voting by an alien and making a false claim to U.S. citizenship to vote, Peoples Gazette reports.
Mr Agah, a lawful permanent resident, allegedly falsely stated that he was a U.S. citizen on an Authorisation to Vote Form.
He then allegedly voted in a federal election on November 5, 2024, the day of the US presidential poll.
In a related development, a Kenyan national, Elizabeth Crudup, 52, also a lawful permanent resident, was charged with one count of falsely claiming citizenship to vote and one count of voting by an alien.
Ms Crudup allegedly registered to vote in 2008 and voted in nine general elections between 2008 and 2024.
She is also accused of voting in nine primary elections between 2008 and 2026.
Voting by non-citizens in US federal elections is a crime.
The charges are allegations, and both are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
