Barcelona midfielder Rodri was substituted at half-time during Tuesday’s 3-0 Champions League win over Aston Villa due to a minor muscle issue, according to a report by Barca Blaugranes.

The midfielder was replaced by Marc Bernal after experiencing calf discomfort during the first half. He is scheduled to undergo medical tests ahead of Sunday’s crucial La Liga fixture against Atletico Madrid.

Providing an update after the match, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick told Movistar:

“Rodri has noticed some muscular discomfort and we have to wait until tomorrow. We have four days to recover and prepare well for the match.”

The potential absence comes at a critical time for Barcelona, who hold a narrow two-point lead over Diego Simeone’s side in the La Liga standings heading into the final fixture before the international break.
