Real Madrid leading race to sign Man United prodigy JJ Gabriel
Real Madrid are confident of winning the race to sign Manchester United forward JJ Gabriel, according to a report by the BBC.
The 16-year-old registered player walked out on Manchester United in September and has since been training on his own in Spain to seek senior football opportunities elsewhere.
Possessing an EU passport, Gabriel has attracted interest across Europe, though Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid are considered the clear favorites for his signature.
Regarding the player’s potential transition, a United source called him: ”The best 15-year-old in Europe,” while former interim manager Darren Fletcher noted: “The world is his oyster.”
Speaking on the situation, United head coach Michael Carrick stated: ”We’ve got to be really careful of the whole situation.”
“He’s a young boy. He’s 15 and, for me definitely, and from a club point of view, looking after our younger players – their welfare, their well-being, their exposure – we’ve got to be really conscious of that in this situation.”
