The African Democratic Congress (ADC) vice-presidential candidate urged Nigerians to assess political leaders based on performance rather than personal relationships.
“Today, the closest person in my life is my wife, not my children. So tomorrow, if my wife becomes president and is doing what Tinubu is doing, I’ll be mad to follow my wife, despite my emotional attachment to her. It’s either she changes, or I leave her,” he said.
Amaechi criticised Tinubu’s administration, arguing that Nigerians should consider alternative leadership in 2027.
He maintained that his records as Rivers State governor and transportation minister were available for public scrutiny.
The former minister also urged voters to prioritise governance and accountability above religious, ethnic and political loyalties.
