Wike denies role in court ruling that sacked Uzodimma as Imo West candidate

Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has denied any role in the Federal High Court judgment that nullified Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma’s recognition as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Imo West senatorial district in 2027, P.M. News reports.

Speaking at a media parley in Port Harcourt on Thursday, Wike described those linking him to the ruling as mischievous.

He acknowledged a public disagreement with Uzodimma over the rainbow coalition initiative but denied any involvement in the APC’s internal political issues.

“What is Uzodimma afraid of? Our priorities should be working to see the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027. If there is an initiative to achieve that, then what is the issue?” he asked.

Justice Obiora Egwuatu had on October 29 ruled that former Governor Rochas Okorocha won the APC primary of May 18, 2026, and ordered the party to submit his name to INEC.

The court also barred Uzodimma from parading himself as the candidate.
