Bomb threats hit TV channels and flights across Europe for third day
Bomb threats targeting European TV channels and passenger flights continued for a third day, with planes diverted and newsrooms evacuated, though earlier threats were described as hoaxes.
Bomb threats targeting TV channels and passenger flights across Europe continued for a third day on Friday, Metro reports.
After almost 30 planes were forced into emergency landings, new threats hit multiple Irish and British news organisations, including Sky, RTÉ and the Irish Independent. Newstalk in Ireland went off air after staff were evacuated. Sky said: “Sky was one of a number of media organizations that received a security threat.”
France said four new bomb threats were made against aircraft over its territory, with all planes landing safely. A Wizz Air flight from Prague to Rome was forced to land in Venice.
Czech Police wrote on X: “Today, the threat to place an improvised explosive device on board a number of aircraft arriving at and departing from Prague is happening again.”
A group calling itself “Fighters of the Male State” reportedly threatened to “turn the sky red,” though earlier threats were described as hoaxes after searches found no genuine danger.
