Spurs prepare formal complaint after Tel injury and Bogle VAR controversy at Elland Road
Tottenham Hotspur are set to lodge a formal complaint following their 1-0 defeat to Leeds United after a controversial challenge left attacker Mathys Tel in a protective boot, according to EPL Index.
Spurs are seeking official clarification over why Leeds right-back Jayden Bogle avoided a red card despite a four-minute VAR review into his studs-up challenge on Tel’s Achilles.
Tel attempted to play on before leaving Elland Road on crutches, raising severe concerns over a potentially lengthy absence.Spurs head coach Roberto De Zerbi, who received a yellow card and subsequent touchline ban during the match, struck a measured tone after the final whistle.
”No, I have big confidence in the referee,” De Zerbi stated. “Nothing changes if he goes to watch the clip or not. I think there was the VAR, and if they didn’t take the right decision, I don’t know. But we have confidence, we have to keep our eyes on the performance where we can improve.”
