The Federal High Court in Abuja has struck out an eight-count criminal charge filed by the Federal Government against Adeniyi Adeyemi, accused of impersonating the Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council.

According to Daily Post, Justice Mohammed Garba Umar terminated the proceedings on Monday, October 12, following an application by the Federal Government.

The Director of Public Prosecution of the Federation, Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN, informed the court that Attorney-General Lateef Fagbemi reviewed the case and identified jurisdictional issues.

Oyedepo explained that the alleged forged documents fell under the jurisdiction of the Federal Capital Territory High Court rather than the Federal High Court.

He disclosed that fresh charges had been filed before the appropriate court, where Adeyemi would face another arraignment.

Defence counsel Ibrahim Angulu, SAN, raised no objection to the prosecution’s application.

Justice Umar consequently struck out the charges.

Adeyemi, 38, faces allegations of conspiracy and forgery alongside two other suspects, identified as Femi and Anu, who remain at large.
