Adeleke leads in 16 of 24 LGAs as INEC uploads Osun election results
Incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke is on course for re-election in Osun State. With results from 24 of the state’s 30 local government areas now uploaded to INEC’s portal, the Accord Party candidate leads in 16 LGAs while the All Progressives Congress has taken eight, according to Daily Post.
Adeleke is currently polling 347,730 votes against APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji’s 283,653 — a gap of 64,077 votes. The African Democratic Congress candidate Najeem Salaam sits a distant third with 13,143 votes.
Osun has 2,399,233 registered voters, with 1,906,390 PVC holders eligible to participate across the state’s 332 wards and 30 local government areas. Collation is still ongoing, with INEC expected to declare a final result late Saturday or in the early hours of Sunday. The election was, however, marred by reports of hooded gunmen invading a collation centre in Osogbo as tensions mounted during counting.
