Adeleke’s convoy attacked by gunmen in Osogbo

Gunmen attacked Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke’s convoy in Osogbo on Wednesday shortly after his visit to the Ataoja’s palace, triggering an exchange of gunfire with his security detail, according to a P.M. News report.

The attack occurred as Adeleke was leaving after presenting his Certificate of Return to Oba Jimoh Oyetunji, following his re-election. An eyewitness said the shooting lasted 12 to 15 minutes, with attackers arriving in an unregistered Sienna bus via Ita Olokan. The governor had already boarded his vehicle when gunfire began. The assailants fled after the exchange; no casualties have been confirmed.
