Age war: Atiku under spell of marabouts – Presidency

The Presidency has described former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar as “under the spell of marabouts” after he claimed in a BBC interview that President Bola Tinubu is 90 years old and sick — a claim Atiku insists he can prove in court.

As reported by Saturday Tribune, Presidential Senior Special Assistant Temitope Ajayi fired back at Atiku, calling his remarks “the last kick of a dying horse” and suggesting his “obsession with the private life of President Bola Tinubu has become a matter for psychiatric evaluation.”

Atiku made the claim while defending his own age ahead of 2027. “You have a President who is 90 years old now and sick. I am healthy; I am strong. So why would I not make my services available to my fellow countrymen?” he told the BBC.

Tinubu’s publicly stated date of birth is March 29, 1952, making him 74. Atiku did not disclose his evidence during the interview but said: “I have evidence that he is (90), and I will present it in court.”

Ajayi dismissed the claim as desperation: “It is ridiculous to claim President Tinubu is 90 years old. Let him go to court to present the evidence.”
