Air Peace, United Nigeria record losses as aviation union suspends strike
Air Peace and United Nigeria Airlines suffered major disruptions after Tuesday’s industrial action by aviation unions, according to Premium Times Nigeria, with Air Peace estimating losses above ₦2 billion and United Nigeria reporting over 30 affected flights.
The strike stemmed from a dispute over the five percent Ticket Sales Charge and workers’ unionisation rights. Air Peace’s COO Oluwatoyin Olajide said over 70 flights were hit and alleged an employee was assaulted, while the aviation union ATSSSAN rejected the airline’s claims, promising a detailed response. Both sides remain at odds.
