President Bola Tinubu’s US-based lawyer, Wole Afolabi, SAN, has declined to disclose what Tinubu privately told him regarding the 1993 civil forfeiture of about $460,000, citing lawyer-client confidentiality, Channels Television reports.

Speaking on Politics Today, as reported by Tribune, Afolabi said breaching such confidentiality could cost him his law licence. He declined to confirm whether Tinubu was investigated by the FBI or DEA, insisting investigation doesn’t imply guilt. The case stems from activist Aaron Greenspan’s FOIA request for Tinubu’s FBI/DEA records, which Tinubu’s team opposes on privacy grounds, comparing it to Donald Trump’s withheld academic records.
