Alleged fake PFIPC: Adeniyi denies eight charges as AGF takes over case

Adeniyi Adeyemi, Director-General of the alleged fake Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, has pleaded not guilty to eight forgery-related charges as the Attorney-General of the Federation took over the case from police.

According to Nairametrics, Adeyemi entered his plea before Justice Umar Mohammed at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday.

Director of Public Prosecution Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN, told the court that “the AGF has instructed the taking over of this case.”

He added that the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation is “going to review the fact and the file.”

The charges include allegations of forgery and impersonation relating to a purported presidential appointment letter allegedly signed by Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila.

Adeyemi denied all eight counts. His lawyer, Genesis Francis, applied for bail on grounds of ill health.

The court fixed October 12 and 13 for the bail hearing and trial and ordered Adeyemi remanded at Kuje Correctional Centre pending the determination of his application.
