Álvaro Arbeloa charged by FA over referee comments in Man United draw

Fulham manager Álvaro Arbeloa has been charged with misconduct by the Football Association over comments he made following his side’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United, according to ESPN. Arbeloa questioned the officiating after Matheus Cunha’s late deflected equaliser rescued a point for United at Craven Cottage on September 20.

The former Real Madrid defender claimed referees had awarded “all fouls” to United and suggested officials would not allow the club to lose following a controversial VAR decision in the Manchester derby. The FA said Arbeloa’s comments implied bias and questioned the integrity of a match official. He has until Thursday to respond to the charge. Arbeloa is yet to record a Premier League victory since taking charge of Fulham.
