Andre Onana taken to hospital after multi-car crash in Turkey
Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana was reportedly taken to hospital after being involved in a multi-car accident in Turkey on Thursday night. The Cameroon international, who is spending the season on loan at Trabzonspor, was involved in the collision on the Yomra road near Trabzon, hours after helping his side secure a clean-sheet victory over Scottish club Hearts in the Conference League.
According to the Daily Star, as reported by GOAL, the accident involved three vehicles after a car reportedly struck Onana’s vehicle from behind, forcing it into another car ahead. Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan confirmed the incident and offered reassurance about the goalkeeper’s condition.
“Andre Onana was involved in a road traffic accident earlier this evening. There are no problems with him, and we wish him a speedy recovery.”
The 30-year-old was taken to a local hospital for precautionary medical assessment. Trabzonspor have yet to provide a further medical update or confirm when he will return to training. Onana joined the Turkish club on loan after struggling for consistency at Manchester United, with the move offering him an opportunity to rebuild his confidence and regain regular playing time.
