Anthony Gordon gives verdict on Harry Kane vs Lamine Yamal Ballon d’Or battle

Barcelona winger Anthony Gordon has refused to choose between Harry Kane and Lamine Yamal in the Ballon d’Or race, insisting both have strong claims for the prestigious award. Speaking ahead of England’s Nations League meeting with Spain, Gordon told talkSPORT that Kane’s historic 2025/26 season and Yamal’s achievements at club and international level make them his two leading contenders.

Kane scored 73 goals for club and country last season, while Yamal helped Barcelona win LaLiga before playing a key role in Spain’s World Cup triumph. Gordon praised Yamal’s ability, describing the 19-year-old as being “on a whole other level”, but acknowledged Kane’s historic campaign.“For me, it has to be one of the two in terms of what they’ve achieved,” Gordon said.
