Arsenal youngsters O’Neill and Hashi called up for Lille Champions League clash

Arsenal teenagers Ceadach O’Neill and Maalik Hashi are set to join the first-team squad for Tuesday’s Champions League match against Lille, Isaan Khan of the Daily Mail reports. Neither player was named in the Under-19 UEFA Youth League squad that faces Lille on the same day, which often hints at senior call-ups.

Max Dowman and Marli Salmon were also left out. O’Neill, 18, was in FA Cup squads against Wigan Athletic and Southampton last season. This is his first Champions League squad, and he has yet to make a competitive debut. Hashi, also 18, receives his first senior call-up, likely due to Martin Zubimendi’s injury setback.

Dowman has regularly made Premier League benches this season. Salmon’s possible involvement may be linked to Piero Hincapie’s sprained ankle. Hincapie and Zubimendi will both miss the Lille game, while William Saliba is still weeks away from a return but is back training on the grass.
