At least seven killed, 10 injured in Jordan church shooting
At least seven people have reportedly been killed following a shooting at a church in Jordan, according to initial reports.
The incident has raised concerns about security at places of worship, with further details surrounding the circumstances of the attack yet to be established.
According to Sky News, the gunmen opened fire during a funeral at a Greek Orthodox church in Karak governorate, approximately 110 miles south of the capital, Amman.
Local media reported that at least 10 other people sustained injuries in the attack.
A witness told Al Mamlaka television that two attackers, one armed with a rifle and the other carrying a pistol, fired repeatedly for several minutes.
The suspects reportedly emerged from a vehicle before attacking mourners gathered at Hamoud church.
Jordanian authorities have not officially confirmed the death toll or identified those responsible for the shooting.
No group has immediately claimed responsibility.
Such attacks are rare in Jordan, where Christians constitute a religious minority.
In 2016, Islamic State militants killed 14 people during an attack on Karak Castle, a popular tourist destination.
