Atiku mocks security deployment to guard Tinubu’s billboards as bandits attack communities
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has criticised the Tinubu government for deploying security agents to protect campaign billboards from vandals while citizens face attacks by bandits and kidnappers.
Abubakar, presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, reacted on social media to reports of security agencies guarding President Bola Tinubu’s billboards in Kaduna on Friday, Peoples Gazette reports.
“Bola, you claim Nigerians love you, yet your billboards in Kaduna require security guards,” he said. “Bandits raid villages, terrorists attack communities, and families live in fear. Your posters enjoy protection that millions of Nigerians can only dream of.”
“What a tragic statement of your government’s priorities. Bola, please protect Nigerians with the same urgency you protect your image!” he added.
His remarks followed a Daily Trust report that KASTLEA, the NSCDC and police officers were guarding the billboards ahead of Saturday’s presidential campaign kickoff. “We were assigned alongside KASTLEA marshals to protect Tinubu’s billboards and posters from being vandalised before the campaign rally. Our duty is mostly at night because that is when the youths can carry out such acts,” a security operative was quoted as saying.
Tinubu’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, could not be reached for comment.
