Atiku raises the alarm over mystery credit into private account
Former Vice President and ADC presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar has raised alarm over an unsolicited credit into one of his strictly private bank accounts, tagged “Contribution Electioneering Campaign,” by an individual unknown to him or his campaign.
In a statement by Senior Special Assistant Phrank Shaibu, reported by The Punch, Atiku described the circumstances as “deeply troubling,” questioning how confidential banking details not in the public domain were accessed.
“If the private banking information of a former Vice President and a leading presidential candidate can be accessed and deployed for reasons yet unknown, then no Nigerian’s financial privacy is safe,” he said.
Atiku warned the breach could expose citizens to kidnappers, terrorists and fraudsters, and raised suspicions that persons with privileged access may be responsible.
