Atiku will sell Nigeria to recover campaign expenses, Wike claims
Wike accuses Atiku of selling Nigeria’s assets, warns against 2027 presidential bid
Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has accused African Democratic Congress presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar of selling assets during his tenure as vice president.
According to Peoples Gazette, Wike spoke at a Rainbow Coalition town hall meeting in Asari-Toru Local Government Area, Rivers State.
“Atiku Abubakar was vice president for eight years. He was in charge of privatisation. He sold assets belonging to Nigeria.”
Wike warned that Atiku could sell Nigeria if elected president in 2027, questioning his consistency and describing him as a gambler.
“Therefore, you cannot put your destiny in the hands of a political gambler,” Mr Wike warned.
He defended Bola Tinubu’s fuel subsidy removal, saying it increased allocations to states and local governments.
Responding, Atiku’s Director of Strategic Communications, Phrank Shaibu, rejected the allegations.
“Atiku is never known to be 419 or Yahoo Yahoo. So he would wake up and sell Nigeria as what”, he told The Gazette.
Shaibu challenged Wike to identify the assets sold.
