Barcelona refuse to give up on Julian Alvarez despite Atletico resistance

Barcelona have maintained their pursuit of Julian Alvarez despite Atletico Madrid’s reluctance to sell the Argentine striker. According to Voice of Emirates, the Catalan club still regard Alvarez as their preferred option to strengthen Hansi Flick’s attack. Atletico manager Diego Simeone has insisted the forward remains under contract and is not available this summer. However, Barcelona are hoping circumstances could eventually force the Madrid club into negotiations.

A meeting between Alvarez and Atletico officials is reportedly expected after his holiday, with Barcelona keen to understand the player’s position. Barcelona are also working on Ferran Torres’ departure to generate funds for the potential transfer. Alvarez joined Atletico from Manchester City in 2024 and remains contracted until 2030.
