Bauchi senator fights back against viral bandit allegations
Senator Shehu Buba, representing Bauchi South, has denied fresh allegations linking him to banditry, describing viral videos circulated by a content creator, “D English Alhaji,” as disinformation.
According to a Punch report, Buba said the clips falsely combined unrelated 2023 footage of Hajj returnees with separate videos of individuals displaying passports.
He traced the campaign to his intervention after two charcoal sellers were killed in 2024, alleging Governor Bala Mohammed and a state commissioner subsequently linked him to a “bandit kingpin.”
Buba said five suspects were already arraigned over related extortion charges, with the case’s next hearing set for September 29, 2026, and he has now also petitioned Niger Republic authorities.
