Bayern Chief expresses sympathy over Wirtz struggles but rules out return to Germany
Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer has dismissed speculation linking the German champions with a swoop for Liverpool attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz, as reported by Liverpool.com.
The 23-year-old playmaker joined the Reds from Bayer Leverkusen in a £116 million ($157 million) deal, but his early performances in the Premier League have drawn scrutiny.
Speaking about the German international, Hainer expressed sympathy over Wirtz’s adaptation period while reaffirming that Bayern are completely satisfied with their current squad.
Despite the outside noise, Wirtz provided a key assist for Victor Munoz and created nine chances during Liverpool’s 2–1 victory against Brentford. Manager Andoni Iraola is expected to start the midfielder once again as Liverpool prepare to host Villarreal in the UEFA Champions League at Anfield on Tuesday.
