Billionaire Leon Black sues Rep. Robert Garcia over Epstein remarks
The suit seeks at least $2.5 million in compensatory and $5 million in punitive damages plus a jury trial, escalating Black’s months-long clash with the House Oversight Committee over its Epstein probe.
Billionaire Leon Black has filed a $7.5 million defamation lawsuit against Democratic Rep. Robert Garcia, accusing him of falsely linking him to Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes, Forbes reports.
Black says Garcia’s remarks on MS NOW were false and damaged his reputation. Garcia said Black was “at the center of Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes.”
Black says he had no knowledge of Epstein’s crimes and cut ties in October 2018. Garcia’s office has not yet commented on the lawsuit.
