‘Bola, you are the Egypt Nigerians are desperate to escape’- Atiku blasts Tinubu
African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar has criticised President Bola Tinubu over his comparison of fuel subsidy relief to the biblical story of Moses returning to Egypt.
According to Daily Trust, Atiku made the remarks in a statement issued Tuesday by his campaign spokesperson, Phrank Shaibu.
“Bola, you are the Egypt Nigerians are desperate to escape. You celebrate the day you made fuel more expensive, then lecture families struggling to pay for food and transport about why they must never go back.”
Atiku accused Tinubu of ignoring worsening economic hardship and insecurity while defending his administration’s policies.
He proposed limited, budgeted support for locally refined petroleum products, with independent auditing to ensure consumers benefit.
The former vice-president also criticised the government’s handling of insecurity and police welfare, demanding improved salaries and pensions for officers.
He maintained that Nigerians deserved affordable fuel, safer communities and practical solutions rather than biblical comparisons.
