Bolt assures riders, drivers of continued operations after Uber’s Nigeria exit
Ride-hailing company Bolt has vowed to remain in Nigeria despite rival Uber’s exit and challenges facing the country’s mobility industry, according to a report by Nairametrics.
In a statement, Bolt said Nigeria remains an important market for its growth, assuring riders and drivers it remains focused on strengthening operations and expanding opportunities in the country.
The assurance came the same day Uber announced it would wind down operations in Nigeria and Uganda, effective September 2, 2026, following a review of its business priorities across Africa.
Bolt’s West Africa GM, Teddy Appa-Dankyi, said the company remains committed to the long term.
