Former Brazilian midfielder Bismarck Vinicyus has been shot dead at the age of 36 following an alleged altercation at a bar in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, November 6, with the former Fortaleza player rushed to Monsenhor Walfredo Gurgel Hospital. However, he later died from his injuries. Another person was also wounded in the shooting.

According to Brazilian publication Terra, preliminary police investigations suggest the confrontation may have been motivated by jealousy. The suspect allegedly left the establishment before returning and opening fire. Police have registered the incident as homicide and attempted homicide and are searching for the perpetrator.

Bismarck enjoyed a successful career in Brazilian football, winning three Ceará state championships with Fortaleza, the 2013 Copa do Nordeste with Campinense and the 2010 Campeonato Brasileiro Série D with Guarany de Sobral. He made 109 appearances for Fortaleza between 2009 and 2012, scoring eight goals.

His other clubs included Santa Cruz, Paraná, Vila Nova and Botafogo-PB, while he also had a spell with Tunisian side Espérance. He most recently played for Parnahyba in 2026 and had reportedly agreed to join Olímpia for the 2027 season.
