British comedian and actor Russell Brand is facing trial at Southwark Crown Court in London over seven sexual offence charges involving six women.

According to SaharaReporters, the 51-year-old has pleaded not guilty to three counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault and one count of indecent assault.

The alleged offences occurred between 1999 and 2009, with prosecutors expected to present their case on Wednesday, October 14.

The trial, expected to last approximately six weeks, could extend into December.

Judge Joel Bennathan selected a 12-member jury and warned members against researching the allegations online before reaching a verdict.

Brand, who attended preliminary hearings alongside his wife, Laura Gallacher, told reporters on Tuesday that he felt “blessed.”

Prosecutors previously alleged that Brand raped a woman in a hotel room in 1999 and sexually assaulted women working in television and radio.

The former television presenter, Hollywood actor and social media personality has consistently denied all allegations against him throughout the proceedings.
