British politician jailed for using fake Oxford degree to land NHS roles
Amran Hussain, a former Labour Party candidate, has been jailed for four years for using a forged Oxford degree to secure 13 NHS jobs, according to Peoples Gazette.
The NHS Counter Fraud Authority found Hussain defrauded the health service of nearly £170,000 after applying for over 2,000 posts using false references and fabricated qualifications from Oxford and Birkbeck.
He was exposed during a background check for a senior role at Devon Partnership NHS Trust in 2021. Hussain had pleaded guilty to three counts of fraud by false representation in August 2025.
