Canada reveals 7 things immigration officers will never ask immigrants for
Canada’s Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has warned newcomers about scammers posing as immigration officials to extort money or personal data, listing seven things genuine officers will never do. According to Vanguard, IRCC employees will never demand payment into a personal bank account, ask for urgent payment, request gift cards or money transfers, or threaten arrest and deportation over unpaid fees.
The agency also said it never offers special immigration deals, promises faster approval for extra payment, or contacts applicants through free email services or social media. IRCC urged newcomers to verify suspicious calls and messages through official channels, noting that scammers can manipulate caller ID.
