Canadian brand unveils ‘Lake Ontario’ T-shirts, hats after Trump’s renaming move

Ottawa — Canadian clothing line Jackpine has launched T-shirts and hats bearing the name “Lake Ontario” after U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order renaming the lake “Lake America,” according to a report by Peoples Gazette.

The Ottawa-based company, owned by Liam Mooney and Emma Cochrane, received about 100 orders shortly after the announcement amid a U.S.-Canada trade dispute. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney rejected the renaming, insisting the 400-year-old Indigenous name would endure. Canada has since imposed 25 to 50 percent counter-tariffs on various U.S. goods in retaliation for the trade measures.
