Carlos Espí saves Real Madrid with stoppage-time winner against Elche
Real Madrid survived a dramatic second-half fightback from Elche to secure a 3-2 victory away from home in La Liga, with Carlos Espí scoring the decisive goal in added time. According to Managing Madrid, Real Madrid took control after an own goal gave them the lead before Kylian Mbappé doubled their advantage before half-time.
Mbappé appeared to have added another goal, but it was ruled out for offside as Madrid missed several opportunities to extend their lead. The visitors struggled after the break, however, as Elche pulled one goal back with a header before finding an equaliser inside the final 10 minutes.
With Madrid facing the prospect of dropping points, Espí emerged from the bench to become the match-winner. The substitute calmly converted after being set up by Mbappé in added time. The victory keeps Real Madrid’s strong start to the season intact despite a late scare at Elche.
