Churches deny claim Obasanjo gave oil wells to Adeboye, Kumuyi, Oyedepo

Three of Nigeria’s biggest churches have rejected a claim by Rev. Mosy Madugba that former President Olusegun Obasanjo gave oil wells to their leaders, Pastors Enoch Adeboye and William Kumuyi and Bishop David Oyedepo. Representatives dismissed the allegation as ridiculous, noting oil resources belong to the Nigerian state, while the RCCG demanded evidence. No documentary proof was presented in the circulating sermon, and Obasanjo’s aide has not responded to enquiries from the newspaper so far.

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Living Faith Church Worldwide and Deeper Christian Life Ministry have denied claims that former President Olusegun Obasanjo allocated oil wells to their leaders, Sunday PUNCH reports.

The allegation was made by the founder of the Ministers’ Prayer Network, Rev. Mosy Madugba, in a sermon circulating online, naming Pastors Enoch Adeboye and William Kumuyi and Bishop David Oyedepo as beneficiaries.

A media aide to Kumuyi, speaking anonymously, dismissed the claim as ridiculous, saying, “we don’t get involved in those things.”

Living Faith’s Director of Media, Patrick Nkamiang, said, “Oil wells do not even belong to Obasanjo, for him to be sharing?” He added that Oyedepo had a zero-tolerance policy towards untraceable gifts.

An RCCG media official said the church would not respond until Madugba provided evidence. Madugba’s church promised to respond later.

Obasanjo’s aide, Kehinde Akinyemi, did not respond to enquiries, while no documentary evidence was presented in the video.
