The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted ₦50 million bail to Arinze Nwogba, accused of impersonating the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

According to Daily Post, Justice Salim Ibrahim granted bail on Thursday, ruling that the alleged offence was bailable and not a capital crime.

The judge ordered Nwogba to provide two sureties in like sum, including a federal civil servant not below Grade Level 14.

Both sureties must reside in Abuja, with one living in Asokoro, Maitama or Guzape.

The court also demanded tax clearance certificates, affidavits of means and identification documents.

Nwogba will remain at Kuje Correctional Centre until he fulfils the bail conditions.

Police accused him of using the JAMB registrar’s photograph on WhatsApp and Truecaller to impersonate him and allegedly defraud unsuspecting Nigerians.

He faces six charges under the Cybercrimes Act.

The court adjourned the case until October 19 for trial.

Authorities said other suspects involved in the alleged scheme remain at large.
