Court sacks Uzodinma as APC senatorial candidate, orders INEC to recognise Okorocha
A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to replace Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma with former governor Rochas Okorocha as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Imo West.
According to Daily Trust, Justice Obiora Egwuatu delivered the judgment on Thursday, October 29, 2026. HeraldSun Nigeria
The judge ruled that Uzodinma did not win the APC senatorial primary conducted on May 18.
He held that evidence presented before the court established that Okorocha secured the majority of votes cast during the exercise.
Consequently, the court directed the APC to forward Okorocha’s name to INEC for recognition as its candidate in the January 16, 2027, senatorial election.
The judgment also ordered Uzodinma to stop presenting himself as the party’s candidate.
Okorocha had challenged INEC’s publication of Uzodinma’s name, insisting that he legitimately won the primary election.
