Coventry end 25-year wait for Premier League win after late VAR drama

Coventry City secured their first Premier League victory in 25 years with a 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest at the City Ground, amid late VAR controversy. According to The Independent, Jay DaSilva scored 10 minutes after half-time, ending Coventry’s run of four defeats and no goals since their return to the top flight.

Forest thought they had equalised in the 86th minute when Igor Jesus finished after a defensive error, but referee Jared Gillett overturned his initial decision following a VAR review, ruling that the forward had fouled Caleb Yirenkyi.

Forest had controlled much of the opening stages but struggled to create clear chances. The defeat also means they remain without a home league win since December, while Coventry celebrated their first top-flight victory since April 2001.
