Dangote grooms three daughters for bigger roles in multibillion-dollar business

Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote is preparing his three daughters to assume greater responsibilities across his vast business empire, spanning cement, oil refining, fertiliser and food production.

According to Bloomberg, Mariya, Halima and Fatima Dangote have taken on senior leadership roles as their father gradually shifts attention towards expanding his refinery and fertiliser businesses.

The report said the changes are not an immediate transfer of overall control, but are intended to allow Dangote to focus on major industrial projects while his daughters oversee existing operations.

Mariya handles commercial strategy across cement and food businesses, Halima manages the family office, while Fatima oversees communications and sales across fertiliser and energy operations.

“This isn’t, for now, a succession for the top job,” Mariya said, explaining that the arrangement would distribute responsibilities rather than appoint an immediate successor.

Dangote, 69, remains in charge and has previously said he expects one of his daughters to lead the group eventually.

The development comes as the conglomerate pursues major expansion plans and prepares to list shares in its refinery, potentially attracting wider investment.
