Defence minister confirms Tinubu coup plot, links Sylva to probe

Defence Minister General Christopher Musa (rtd) has confirmed that a coup plot against President Bola Tinubu was real, revealing that former Minister of State for Petroleum Timipre Sylva remains under investigation over alleged involvement.

Speaking during a television programme on Thursday, Musa said those behind the plot sought to remove Tinubu from power, though he suggested they may have acted on misguided grounds rather than any concrete justification.

According to Naija News, the minister explained that the Department of State Services and National Intelligence Agency are still probing Sylva’s alleged role, adding that findings would be made public once investigations conclude.

Musa further assured that anyone cleared of complicity would not suffer unjustly, and urged Nigerians to unite in defence of the country’s democracy rather than entertain coup ambitions.
