DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin alleged at the 2026 Republican Midterm Convention on Thursday that Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) married her brother to bring him into the United States, warning that “consequences are coming,” according to Blaze News.

Mullin said the department was investigating potential illegal activity related to the family’s migration, though he did not present evidence. Omar has previously denied the allegations, calling them “absolutely false and ridiculous” and rejecting claims that Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, whom she married in 2009, is her brother.

President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance have both suggested investigations into the matter are ongoing. Omar’s office did not respond to a request for comment.
