Djokovic crashes out of US Open in first round for first time

Novak Djokovic has crashed out of the US Open in the first round for the first time in his career, losing 7-6(5), 5-7, 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 to Argentina’s Mariano Navone in a gruelling four-hour, 36-minute battle.

According to AP News, the 39-year-old vomited and cramped during the match, admitting he “didn’t enjoy” the contest.

It marks Djokovic’s earliest Grand Slam exit in two decades and raises fresh questions about his future at majors, following a similarly early loss at the Cincinnati Open last month.
