Dolly Parton’s posthumous debut single released two weeks after death
Dolly Parton’s first posthumous recording, a cover of “Bound To Ride,” dropped on Wednesday, two weeks after the country music icon’s death, according to Page Six.
The track features on an upcoming tribute album, “Where the Soul Never Dies: Celebrating 80 Years of the Stanley Brothers,” and was re-recorded by Parton in her personal studio in 2022. The album, due October 16, also includes contributions from Willie Nelson, Sierra Ferrell, Dierks Bentley and Steve Martin.
Parton’s sister, Stella, recalled that the singer kept working “until the last conversation” they had. Parton died on August 25 following a secret cancer battle and was buried beside her husband, Carl Dean, in an intimate ceremony three days later.
