Don’t be deceived, North not happy with Tinubu’s govt, says Rufai Oseni
Arise Television presenter Rufai Oseni has warned that widespread dissatisfaction with President Bola Tinubu’s administration in Northern Nigeria could affect the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general election.
According to Daily Post, Oseni made the remarks on Monday during Arise Television’s Morning Show, cautioning politicians against mistaking financial inducements and public endorsements for genuine electoral support.
“Because you are giving tonnes of people money in the north they are shouting your name, they are saying everything is well. Elections will shock you. Do not deceive yourself,” he said.
“The north is not happy with this administration.”
Oseni acknowledged that his assessment could be criticised as a generalisation but maintained that it reflected public sentiment.
He also questioned whether governors who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC would demonstrate genuine loyalty.
According to him, some joined the ruling party because of internal crises within the PDP rather than ideological commitment.
